Quantum 3D ha annunciato con una press release l'inizio di una relationship con NVidia, grazie alla quale Quantum 3D fornirà alla società di Santa Clara dei chip grafici 3dfx; di seguito l'annuncio:

San Jose, CA - January 10, 2001 - Quantum3D, Inc.™ today announced it has a relationship with NVIDIA® Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA) in which NVIDIA will supply graphics chips to Quantum3D for the company's 3dfx®-based graphics subsystems - currently employed in Visual Simulation and Training (VST), Embedded Graphics Subsystems (EGS) and Out-of-Home Entertainment (OHE) Visual Computing Systems. Under the relationship, NVIDIA has committed to work closely with Quantum3D to supply Quantum3D with 3dfx graphics chips (when acquired from 3dfx) that are incorporated in the company's existing VST and OHE focused product lines. In addition, the companies have separately agreed to work together on next generation products that will incorporate NVIDIA graphics technologies into Quantum3D value-added solutions for VST and EGS applications.

Quantum3D currently utilizes 3dfx VSA-100™ chipsets in the company's flagship PC-based Image Generator (PC-IG) - AAlchemy™ - already chosen by leading Visual Simulation & Training customers-- including Lockheed Martin Information Systems, Rikei, Soft Reality, SDS International, Boeing, Renault, Thomson Training Systems, Lantech, INDRA and Adacel. And both VSA-100 and Voodoo3® technologies are used by Quantum3D in the company's Graphite™ Visual Computing System and other products employed in VST, EGS and OHE markets.

NVIDIA and Quantum3D already have a solid history of working well together. Both the Quantum3D AAlchemy and Graphite systems are available with NVIDIA-based graphics subsystems-- including the new GeForce2 MX and Ultra products. The two companies are now committed to mutually implementing a smooth transition strategy that will enable Quantum3D to develop value-added solutions based on NVIDIA silicon in the future for VST.

"NVIDIA is pleased to welcome Quantum3D into the NVIDIA family," stated Jen-Hsun Huang, Co-Founder, President and CEO of NVIDIA Corporation. "Quantum3D has a great reputation in the Visual Simulation & Training as true innovators and they will fit well with NVIDIA's leadership role in the graphics world. We will support Quantum3D and its customers with current 3dfx-based technology and we look forward to working with them in developing new value-added products based on NVIDIA technology."

"All of us at Quantum3D are elated to be working with NVIDIA," quoted Jeff Edson, CEO and President of Quantum3D, Inc. "NVIDIA's commitment to support our current products and customers with access to 3dfx silicon as well as work with us on new value-added products speaks highly of their corporate and personal integrity."

"Given our history and the scalability features built into the Voodoo Graphics architecture, Quantum3D has been pre-disposed towards 3dfx silicon for our most advanced graphics subsystems," said Ross Q. Smith, Founder and VP of Sales & Marketing for Quantum3D, Inc. "But since the GeForce® introduction, Quantum3D has been integrating NVIDIA-based products into our PC-based systems -- because of their superb OpenGL and Direct3D performance under Windows and Linux, coupled with NVIDIA's unparalleled track record of delivering new products on time. With our new relationship with NVIDIA, we now have the best of both worlds -- access to 3dfx silicon for our current product lines and a partnership with the undisputed leader in graphics chip technology for the future."
