problema installazione driver ati

Che bello un'altro errore, ora non mi parte neanche più X (per la cronaca sto scrivendo da lynx )
ho installato i driver ati ufficiali, tramite alien li ho convertiti da rpm a deb e li ho installati, all'inizio mi dava un errore dicendo che non poteva sovrascrivere i driver mesa, allora ho forzato l'installazione...
ho dato fglrxconfig, ho configurato e ho riavviato, ora non parte più X e non riesco a capire il perchè, aiutatemi ad interpretare il log!

riconfigura X mettendo ati o quello che è e controlla /var/log/XFree86.0.log per capire cosa non va...

tutte le volte che ho messo ati non è mai funzionato

le prime volte che installavo una distro linux non partiva mai X se lo mettevo

provo giusto per vedere cosa dice il log

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86?

ogni volta che selezionavo ati durante l'installazione non faceva partire X, ora va....
