Installazione Ubuntu bloccata da un errore, problema con hard disk?

Buongiorno a tutti,
ho un ASUS Eee PC nel quale qualche anno fa ho installato una distro di Ubuntu, Windows 7 starter era inutilizzabile!

Ha funzionato sempre abbastanza bene fino a quando qualche settimana ha impiegato parecchio tempo per avviarsi, ma alla fine si e' avviato.

Al secondo utilizzo invece non ha dato alcun segno di vita.... decido cosi' di formattarlo, sempre Ubuntu e con supporto USB.

Durante l'installazione ottengo il seguente errore:
Error fsyncing/closing /dev/sda1:input/output error

Ovviamente mi impedisce di procedere....

Sempre dalla live di Ubuntu provo ad avviare GParted, ma ottengo diversi errori...suggerimenti?

Secondo me l'hard è guasto o comunque sta per lasciarti.

Prova e riprova a reinstallare scegliendo la modalità di partizionamento manuale, cioè cancellando tutte le partizioni e ricreandole da te invece di far fare tutto automaticamente all'installer, magari si installa. Però scommetto che dopo un po' riprendi ad avere problemi.

1) Oltre all'HDD e ai relativi test che ti sono stati consigliati di fare dall'utente e che ti suggerisco anchio di fare penserei anche alle ram. Prova un banco alla volta e vedi se va con un solo banco (o uno o l'altro)
2) Proverei con una formattazione dell'HDD completa

1) I test li faccio sempre con Linux? Come?
Purtroppo non posso togliere la RAM, e' la versione di eepc chiusa, ove la RAM e' "saldata"!

Allora,sottolineo che non ho Linux e che non lo conosco ma se durante l'installazione ti permette di formattare l'HDD allora fallo e seleziona eventualmente la procedura più lunga se no c'è l'alternativa di GPartedLive che però non so come si usa però è una distro live di Linux e ti permette anche di modificare le partizioni,crearle,spostarle etc..

Comunque se l'HDD o la ram hanno qualche problema fisico puoi fare tutti i test via software che vuoi.. ma non serve.

Vedi partizioni sull'hard disk /dev/sda? Di che dimensioni sono?

In linux gli errori input/output possono essere legati a settori danneggiati o settori riallocati.
Prova anche a fare un controllo dei dati smart del disco. Da linux puoi farlo usando smartctl da linea di comando oppure gsmartcontrol se usi l'interfaccia grafica

Ho eseguito il comando su sda1, ma il messaggio visualizzato è sempre lo stesso.

sda non viene neppure mostrato da fdisk... boh, ripeto secondo me il disco o il controller sulla vecchia scheda madre sono andati nei verdi pascoli.:angel:

Purtroppo quel disco è da isola ecologica. Hai più di 200 settori riallocati ed un numero enorme di settori pendenti (sono più di 65000!). Inoltre hai anche molti errori seek quindi anche il gruppo testine ha probabilmente qualche problema.
Salva i dati presenti sul disco che riesci a recuperare e sostituiscilo con un altro. ;)

T'avevo detto, t'avevo... :D

Certo che per un dispositivo del genere non so quanto convenga prendere un HD o SSD nuovo, magari se non lo usi per cose importanti potresti montare un usato.

Si infatti, o uno usato o un SSD di piccole dimensioni... mia moglie lo uso per elaborare documenti su Dropbox.
