Asus RT-N18U e problemi con il DDNS

Ciao a tutti, ho acquistato in Asust RT-N18U e ho dei problemi con l servizio DDNS. Ho una rete Telecom Alice con Ip pubblico dinamico (non nattata).

Quando però imposto il servizio di DDNS il router Asus mi da questo allarme:

Il router wireless attualmente usa un indirizzo IP WAN privato (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, o 172.16.x.x).
Questo router potrebbe essere in un ambiente multi-NAT ed il servizio DDNS non può lavorare in questo ambiente.


Come mai ?
Il mio vecchio TP-Link funzionava correttamente purtroppo....

In che senso ?
Ho una ADSL standard e l'indirizzo IP fisso per il router in quanto è un impianto ADSL di condominio e ognuno ha il suo router con il suoi IP fisso.

Ho sostituito il Tp link con l'Asus clonando il MAC address e impostando gli indirizzi della WAN.
Riesco a navigare bene ma il DDNS non va...mentre con il TP link va. :muro:

L'indirizzo pubblico è comune a tutti ma con il Tp link riuscivo a vedere quello assegnato al modem da Telecom e poi dai aprendo le porte dovute riesco a raggiungere il mio router.

Il modem ha indirizzo 129.168.2.1 mentre il mio router 192.168.2.10

quando si fa un update ad un server ddns, si apre una pagina web;
per dire per dyndns apri

ora, puoi passare o no l'indirizzo pubblico, cioé qualcosa come

se non lo passi, viene usato quello relativo a chi sta facendo la connessione

evidentemente il router asus usa lo IP, mentre il tplink no

l'asus non avendo un ip pubblico sulla wan ti riporta l'errore; il tplink no

scrivi ad asus e digli che quando fanno lo update ddns non devono fornire il parametro ip della wan ma lasciare prendere quello della connessione

oppure se ci sono i sorgenti del firmware, con asus avviene quasi sempre, ricompilati l'ambaradan modificando il programma che fa lo update

oppure fa fare lo update ad un computer di casa

Però l'assistenza Asus mi ha consigliato di dare alla LAN la stessa classe di indirizzi della WAN .....

se l'asus controlla lo ip della wan, controlla che non sia un ip locale e che sia cambiato dall'ultimo update

mettere la lan nella wan che senso ha?

evidentemente mentre a tplink se ne sbattevano completamente dello ip della wan, facendo lo update senza controllare che fosse cambiato (perché è evidente nel tuo caso non cambia)

nello asus controllano e sia non cambia mai (ti cambia lo ip della wan ogni volta che ti connetti?) e/o non gli piace che sia locale

non hanno previsto che la wan possa avere un ip locale e/o che non cambia mai

d'aldronde non è facile fare questa cosa: o passi sopra al fatto che ai fornitori di ddns non piace che fai un update a caso o cerchi di ottenere lo ip pubblico in altra maniera

per dire, in amod per il 2200v3, se imposti il device come access point, non ho più lo ip della wan pubblico e per fare lo update dei ddns lo prendo da una di quelle pagine web che ti dicono lo ip; in questa maniera accontento i fornitori di ddns e riesco pur sempre ogni tot di tempo a fare gli update

insomma la questione è che gli update ddns li deve fare il router principale, anche perché tu fai un update e ti ritrovi un nome che viene risolti in un ip che non è il tuo ma di tutto il condominio

chiaramente, come suggeritoti nel post sopra, se il router principale ha qualche funzione pppoe-relay o routed-bridge o come la chiama lui, cioé accetta connessioni pppoe, allora il tuo router avrà la wan con indirizzo pubblico, anche se non penso che chi ha messo su l'ambaradan condominiale abbia lasciato questa possibilità, perché altrimenti ogni appartamento facevo questo giochetto e lo isp si inquietava (o almeno dopo un paio di ip non te ne dava altri)

hai aggiornato al firmware (BETA) uscito in aprile? c'è un fix al DDNS.

Risposta:
QUELLO CHE PIU' VI PIACE E VI TROVATE MEGLIO, DECISIONE DA PRENDERE MAGARI DOPO AVERNE PROVATO PIU' DI UNO.
Personalmente poi la GUI Asus non mi piace, e quindi ho scartato anche il fork di HGG. sono quindi passato subito a Tomato, e da un po' tengo installato AdvancedTomato.

Please note: this version enhanced the security mechanism. Quando si aggiorna o si rimette un firmware meno recente, poi si consiglia sempre un reset della config (magari selezionando Initialize invece che Restore, se hanno messo la prima opzione anche nel firmware originale) e selezionare di cancellare la NVRAM e non importare una config di altro firmware, insomma ripartire da zero e riconfigurare a mano. e resettare anche la cache del browser, dopo che ha finito di flashare, prima di riaccedere all'ip del router. però se non lo fate non è un dramma, ma poi potrebbe essere necessario resettare, in caso si notino problematiche varie, dovute forse all'importazione di settaggi incompatibili col nuovo firmware.

Salve a tutti, preso questo router e ho constatato il problema con il ddns. Ho preso questo router perché dovrebbe essere compatibile con il Wi-Fi di Facebook ma purtroppo non trovo il firmware che lo abilita, voi sapete se ci sono firmware beta più aggiornati di quello ufficiale in questo momento?

segnalo un'info che dovevo/volevo fare da tempo ma che per mancanza di tempo/voglia (e di averci comunque capito poco), avevo sempre rimandato: da un paio di mesi, chi volesse scaricare le nuove builds del firmware HGGHOMES (RMerlink fork) deve chiedere info all'autore (la sua email gmail è facilmente reperibile per es. scaricando il file http://www.mediafire.com/download/66jklz8nkj9d64f/status.txt, e la sua risposta avverrà in tempi brevi).
l'autore (le motivazioni ve le darà via email, oppure cercate nel forum snbforums.com, ma credo che qualcuno già saprà che riguarda alcune scelte operate da Asus e dalla FCC) chiede di non rendere pubblica la nuova cartella coi file, per cui non postate nè qui nè altrove i relativi link "privati" (cartella su mediafire e firmware).

da qualche giorno è disponibile la versione 380.59_HGG-FINAL (based on RMerlin 380.59)

questo e tutti gli altri firmware mod sono a vostro rischio e pericolo: se non ve la sentite, non installateli (ma vi perderete varie migliorie/aggiunte) se lo fate e sfiga vuole che avrete problemi, beh, eravate state avvertiti (io però installo da anni firmware mod e non ho mai briccato un modem o router, e ormai - come altri apparati - li scelgo solo in base alla disponibilità di firmware da parte di terzi).
Poi se non vado errato (a suo tempo mi dimenticai che avevo l'utility attiva e ho dato normalmente il firmware mod in pasto al menu della gui), RMerlin (HGG) e i vari Tomato, si possono installare sul firmware originale anche usando il Rescue, così come con lo stesso si può tornare poi al firmware originale.

alla fine quale firmware ritenete il migliore di questo router? quello originale purtroppo e pieno di bug e impuntamenti

mi pare ci siano poche differenze (alcune però ci sono, vedi la gestione wirelss con alcuni driver vecchi o più nuovi che potrebbero causare incompatibilità), probabilmente salta all'occhio la GUI diversa.

quanto a quelli opensource (lede ddwrt openwrt) credo non ci siano differenze con altri router.

purtroppo mi pare che nessuno di questi sviluppatori possegga direttamente l'rt-n18u (perchè l'apparato non è disponibile in alcuni mercati) e il porting di tutti questi firmware potrebbe non essere perfetto, perchè comunque ci sono differenze.

per l'uso che ne faccio io quasi minimale (sto continuamente rimandando, forse anche apposta, uno stravolgimento alla mia LAN) probabilmente mi andrebbe bene anche il firmware originale, e non ho mai avuto problemi (disconnessioni, wireless, blocchi) e ora da un po' uso AdvancedTomato.

io uso AdvancedTomato, e non noto problemi, tanto che se non inciampo sui cavi, mi dimentico di averlo e averlo acceso.
però è anche vero che da un bel po' lo sto usando al minimo (4 client che ogni tanto accedono solo ad Internet, e un fisso che fa p2p e niente altro, nè gaming nè usi di lan tra più client, nè altro).


mi pare che pedro oggi o domani dovrebbe ricompilare la 2017.3b16 (ha rimosso i firmware compilati ieri)

qualcuno ha avuto problemi di mancate riconnessioni (vede il modem, ma non prende l'ip da internet, oppure non accede nemmeno al modem) dopo la perdita della portante adsl del modem? sto usando - ho voluto provarla - la 2018.1.028 di kille72, e fino a prima con AT non avevo nessun problema e si è sempre riconnesso all'instante.

per l'N18U (e il 56S) hanno rilasciato solo le versioni NOSMP, non ho finora trovatro spiegazioni (potrebbero uscire successivamente) ma se hanno deciso che da ora rilasceranno solo quelle, forse non sarà un bene, in quanto a suo tempo provando una delle prime versioni di Shibby, mi ero trovato male col wireless, da allora (come prima di quel test) rimesso le versioni normali, non ho mai avuto alcun problema.

CAUTION:
1. If your device uses stock firmware with version 382_50018
or later, please downgrade the stock firmware to 382_39935
or earlier version by using ASUS Firmware Restoration
utility (https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1030652) and then
upload this firmware via Web UI.
2. Upgrade to this firmware from earlier version (<= 384.4_2)
will cause the router being not accessible without
resetting by hardware button. Please backup the router
settings before upgrade the firmware.
3. The online upgrade feature is broken between 384.4_3 and
384.5-beta2 due to spwenc.o source replacement. Please do
not restore the configuration exported from these versions.

ATTENZIONE BUG :
dopo aver aggiornato, i client wi-fi non vengono più autenticati/abilitati. resettandolo, il wireless è "aperto", senza protezione, e si riesce a fare qualcosa, ma ovviamente non è molto sicuro. se si riprova a settare wpa2, poi al riavvio il bug torna.

il 384.19_1 non ha questo problema.
