Build 8.1.0064

The following are issues with this build that the MSN Messenger product team is aware of and has been fixed or approved to be fixed in a later build. If you encounter any of these issues while beta testing this build it is not necessary to file a bug.

Setup

· If you have live.com set as your browser home page, Windows Live Messenger setup will prompt you to make msn.com your home page (approved to be fixed in a later build)

Vista Compatibility

· Enabling the “What am I listening to” personal status message triggers and error (approved to be fixed in a later build)

· Installing Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live Toolbar 3.0 on Vista may result in unnecessary prompts that “a web page is about to open Windows Live Messenger.” (approved to be fixed in a later build)

· When installing Windows Live Messenger on a Vista machine that has Windows Live Mail Desktop you may get a prompt that “A program needs your permission to continue” (Fixed in a later build)

· While on Vista, muting your microphone while in a voice call may result in the current volume getting frozen rather than muted. (approved to be fixed in a later build)

· The play/stop button found on the ToolsŕOptionŕAlerts and Sounds settings page is broken on Vista. (approved to be fixed in a later build)

· “Run the Windows Connection Wizard” in the Connection Troubleshooter may not work on Vista (Fixed in a later build)

· When running the Voice and Video tuning wizard on Vista the volume slider may go to zero even though the sounds can be heard. (approved to be fixed in a later build)

· Sharing Folders icons may not look right on Vista. (approved to be fixed in a later build)

Personal Expression

· The “Packs” menu item still exists under Main WindowŕActionsŕGet More from Messenger… (Fixed in a later build)

· Emoticons with shortcut keys that are four characters or more may display stretched out in the emoticons list (Fixed in a later build)

· Location PSM information for one user may appear for another user on the same machine. (approved to be fixed in a later build)

· Location PSM may not turn off when Music PSM is selected. (Fixed in a later build)

General UI

· Garbage text may appear instead of the text “Personalize Messenger” under the menu path Main WindowŕActions or Main WindowŕTools (Fixed in a later build)

· The tab order on the Conversation Window is in the wrong order. (Fixed in a later build)

· Some text strings may be truncated on the “More Help” section of the Connection Trouble Shooter page. (Fixed in a later build)

· If you system DPI is set to 120 or greater, the “Set Default” button on the My Backgrounds page gets truncated. (approved to be fixed in a later build)

· Multiple instances of the “Personalize Messenger” sub menu may appear if you click on it more than once. (approved to be fixed in a later build)

Interop

· The example text (showing that you can add a yahoo.com address) on the Add a contact screen might not appear. (Fixed in a later build)

· The text “Yahoo Messenger with Voice” may not show for Yahoo contacts in the ActionsŕSend and instant message… list or the FileŕView Message History list. (Fixed in a later build)

Roaming

· Dynamic Display Pictures may not always roam from one machine to the other (Approved to be fixed)

· EASI Passport accounts may get an “invalid display name” error. (Fixed in a later build)

· The “Don’t show a picture” check box under the Display Picture settings might be checked by default, which may prevent the display picture set on another machine from roaming. (Fixed in a later build)

Contacts

· A Gleam may appear on the Contact Card even if the contact does not have a Space. (Fixed in a later build)

· After clicking the “Add this person to your contact list” infotip, the infotip may not go away. (Fixed in a later build)

· When making a phone call to someone who is not on your contact list and then clicking on the Add to Contacts button numerous times, it may show multiple Add to Contact lists. (approved to be fixed in a later build)

· If you have a group with both blocked and unblocked contacts, you may be able to invite all of them (even the blocked contacts) into a group conversation when you invite the entire group. (approved to be fixed in a later build)
